Report: MSNBC Suspends Conservative Commentator Pat Buchanan

Wednesday, 11 January 2012 11:54 AM

A liberal group apparently has succeeded in its efforts to have conservative commentator Pat Buchanan dropped from MSNBC shows. Color of Change announced that the cable network has confirmed that Buchanan has been suspended indefinitely, The Daily Caller reported.

The group had been pushing for Buchanan's ouster since October. “Amazing news!” an email alert the group sent Tuesday proclaimed, according to the Caller. “Pat Buchanan and his white supremacist ideology will no longer be on TV.”

The email went on to say that MSNBC President Phil Griffin confirmed to the group that Buchanan was “suspended indefinitely.” However, the group stated that it hopes the suspension will be made permanent.

"ColorOfChange.org welcomes MSNBC's decision to indefinitely suspend Pat Buchanan," Executive Director Rashad Robinson said in a statement. "However, it’s time for MSNBC to permanently end their relationship with Pat Buchanan and the hateful, outdated ideas he represents. We appreciate this first step and urge MSNBC to take the important final step to ensure that their brand is no longer associated with Buchanan’s history of passing off white supremacy ideology as mainstream political commentary.”

Color of Change has launched a number of campaigns against conservatives, including advertising boycotts against Glenn Beck.
