Gannett Expects to Hit High End of Earnings Forecasts

Monday, 07 Jun 2010 11:19 AM

The biggest U.S. newspaper publisher says its second-quarter earnings should hit the high end of Wall Street expectations.

Gannett Co. Chief Financial Officer Gracia Martore told financial analysts Monday that advertising demand is improving.

She said the company's broadcast TV and digital operations should post increases in revenue over the same quarter a year ago. Its publishing segment will see another decline, albeit a smaller one than declines last year.

Martore said Gannett's earnings will come in at the high end of the range forecast by analysts. The average estimate is 52 cents per share but the highest analyst forecast is for 58 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters.

Gannett shares rose 2 percent in morning trading.
