US Airways to Ground 1,700 Employees

NEW YORK (Reuters) - US Airways Group said on Thursday it will reduce its work force by about 1,700 and cut fourth-quarter domestic mainline capacity by 6 to 8 percent as it battles record fuel prices.

US Airways said it will also introduce a service fee of $15 for a first checked bag.
