Goya chief executive Robert Unanue has reportedly been forbidden from speaking to the press by his company's board of directors after he claimed the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent, the New York Post reports.

The newspaper reported Monday the company, which specializes in Hispanic foods, voted to censure Unanue for his remarks claiming President Joe Biden's election was "unverified" while on Fox Business last week. He is now no longer able to make media appearances without the prior approval of the board.

"Bob does not speak for Goya Foods when he speaks on TV," Andy Unanue, a Goya board member and third-generation owner, told the Post last week before the vote took place. "The family has diverse views on politics, but politics is not part of our business. Our political point of views are irrelevant."

The Goya chief executive told Maria Bartiromo last week: "I think this is mission accomplished. Mission accomplished by the union, the partnership, the conglomerate of social media, big tech, big media and government, big government, for ushering in the dawn of a new world order. This great reset. With an unverified election, and the big prize is the United States."

Unanue declined to comment Monday on the vote, and said he "independently" decided to keep his thoughts on politics and religion to himself.

"Independently, I've made the decision to lower the temperature and walk away from speaking about politics and religion," he said, according to the Post. "I realize it's important because of the diverse views of the company and our market."

He added, "I don't believe I should speak politically or in a faith-based manner on behalf of the company. But I leave open the possibility of speaking on behalf of myself."
