An Introduction to 'The Money Queen'

By    |   Wednesday, 20 May 2015 07:40 AM EDT

I want to introduce myself and my new blog. My name is Cary Carbonaro, also known as “The Money Queen.”®

I am a Certified Financial Planner with an MBA in finance. I have been in finance for over 25 years of experience in financial services. In 2014 I was honored to be named an Ambassador for the CFP® Board, one of only 50 in the United States.

My day job is as a Managing Director with United Capital Financial Life Management.

My new book is, “The Money Queen’s Guide For Woman Who Want to Build Wealth and Banish Fear.” It will be released Oct. 13, but you can pre-order now on any of your favorite book sites. I wanted to write a book for woman about issues I see in my practice.

I also wanted to share my own financial story in the book including my own mistakes.

I believe no one sets out to make mistakes around money and sometimes even when we know it might not be the correct choice we do it anyway.

In my case, marrying the wrong man or in a simple case, buying a bag you can’t afford.

Those decisions are based on emotions not on using your financial brain. My biggest fear for woman is they will run out of money and become the proverbial bag lady.

In my book I share the stat that 27 percent of woman who make more than $200,000 a year fall into the category of having bag lady fears. This means it crosses all socioeconomic lines.

The book explores what to do in your roaring 20s, to your thrifty 30s, and all the way to your (hopefully) smooth 60’s. Financial security is an exciting journey we can take together. So pack your purse and get ready for the ride . . .

I’ve been frequently sought out for her expertise and has been quoted in a variety of well-known publications, including: The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, the New York Post, USA Today, The Street.com, Bloomberg, CNBC, Bankrate, Money Magazine, More Magazine, Kiplinger’s and Investor’s Business Daily. I serve as an Orlando Sentinel’s “Money Matters Hotline” Expert.

I’ve been a guest on “The Today Show”, CBS, Fox News, ABC, NPR and WPIX (NY). I also am a frequent guest on PBS Nightly Business.

In addition to co-authoring the book "TIPS from the TOP: Targeted Advice from America‘s Top Money Minds," (Alpha, 2003), I was also a contributor to "The Wealth Management Manual" and "Save Now or Die Trying."

I am an officer of the Long Island chapter of Ellevate (formerly 85 Broads) a women’s professional networking organization, and President of the South Lake (Florida) Community Foundation, Women’s Giving Circle, which provides community based philanthropic support. I also have been a CFP® instructor at Fordham University in New York.
