The US People to the Donald: ‘You’re Hired’

By    |   Friday, 10 Dec 2010 10:48 AM

I never thought that I would become a writer. I thought it was a sleazy business.

Investing in long-term investments and building my own Dividend Machine for my family was more of a priority.

I was hired to write about money but like many of you, I have been frustrated about this country and how we are perceived.

I was impressed with how many folks gave us feedback on last week’s article about Donald Trump being our next president. It is clear that the American people have spoken.

Newsmax is based in West Palm Beach, Fla., just a stone’s throw from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, which we drove past on the way to dinner when I was in town this past summer.

There were so many responses it would be impossible to list them all here. The positive comments outweighed the negative comments by a more than 20-to-1 ratio.

This week, we will address the negative comments. Next week, we will feature the most enlightening and pithy comments.

However, the biggest “complaints” about Trump were that he had been "bankrupt" and how folks felt that he wouldn’t have the patience to deal with the tone-deaf incompetence of Congress.

I want to address both subjects briefly. First of all, Donald Trump himself has never personally declared bankruptcy, although his companies did twice.

But even if he declared bankruptcy, does that disqualify him from being president?

Not if past history is any indication.

Two of the best presidents of all time, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson, both declared personal bankruptcy. They are both considered to be among the best presidents in U.S history. They showed tremendous courage and leadership.

The fact is that almost 10 percent of all the U.S presidents have declared personal bankruptcy.

As far as Trump not having the patience to deal with Congress, that is a valid point but one about which we can only speculate.

However, no president can control the legislative process itself. What they can control is foreign policy and how we as Americans are perceived.

One of our readers sent me a video which made my blood boil. It wasn’t covered by the mainstream media and it is about Obama being disrespected in Russia.

While many of Obama’s policies aren’t my favorite ideas, the thought of him and the United States, the greatest country in the world, being disrespected, angers me greatly.

The video below begs me to ask the obvious question.

Story continues below video.

Could you see Donald Trump tolerating this?

Please continue to e-mail us at financialcustomerservice@newsmax.com with your suggestions about how Obama should have handled the situation or what you would have done.

I read each and every comment. At some point, I would like to share them all with Mr. Trump.
