Whether you’re planning a trip with friends or just looking for some “me-time,” golfing holidays are the perfect way for golf enthusiasts to unwind.

But with so many courses available in the United States, it may be difficult to choose which one to visit.

Thankfully, golf enthusiasts from around the country have already picked their favorites.

Here’s a list of six of the top golf trip destinations in the U.S.:

1. Northern Michigan— In an article for Golf Advisor, golf journalist Matt Ginella writes that he loves traveling to northern Michigan for its combination of “quantity, quality, and value."

Ginella says he likes to start his trip with a round at The Black Forest at Wilderness Valley Golf Resort in Otsego County. He also likes to stay at the Treetops Resort for its three courses: the Signature, Masterpiece and Premier.

Just an hour away you’ll find the award-winning Forest Dunes Golf Club, which is where Ginella likes to end his trip.

2. Bandon Dunes Gof Resort, Oregan— Brandon Dunes is often ranked as a favorite among golf magazine readers. In fact, it’s topped lists by Golf.com, Golf Digest, and USA Today.

In the USA Today article, Ginella is quoted as saying the course is like playing in Scotland or Ireland, without a passport. And because this is a link-style course with no trees, Bandon Dunes makes a great getaway for golfers of all different skill levels.

If you’re going to be in Oregon, you may also want to check out the Sunriver Resort, which has been ranked by Men’s Health as great group golf getaway under $500.

The resort runs “stay and play” packages, which work out to about $80 a night.

3. The Big Island, Hawaii— Ranked No. 1 on U.S. News’ list of top golf destinations worldwide, The Big Island is a treasure trove of natural beauty, but without all the stereotypical bells and whistles.

Golf Digest readers have ranked the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu as their sixth favorite course in the U.S. thanks to its Jack Nicklaus design and its unique views of black lava against the backdrop of a crystal blue ocean.

5. Barefoot Resort, Myrtle Beach, South CarolinaMen’s Health writes that “Myrtle Beach and ‘value golf' are practically synonymous."

The resort offers a choice of four championship courses, with plenty to do in the evening and, according to Men’s Health, you can spend three nights for around $450.

6. Pebble Beach Resorts/Inn at Spanish Bay— This is another one of those destinations that comes up often on “best of” lists, although USA Today warns you’ll need a big budget if you’re planning a visit.

That said, it’s considered the top public golf course in the country. According to Golf Digest, the Spanish Bay area offers a couple of different courses to keep you busy and promises a luxury experience.
