Best Swimwear For Teens

Wednesday, 29 December 2010 02:01 PM EST

Teenage girls and their parents don't always agree on fashion, especially when it comes to swimwear. Teens want something cool, stylish, and sexy, while parents want something affordable, cute, and modest. So what does a swimwear compromise look like? Let's take a look at some of the best swimwear styles that give teens and parents what they both want.

Tankini
The tankini is a swimwear style that includes two pieces. The top is styled like a tanktop and extends anywhere from the middle of the torso, to the waist. The bottoms come in a variety of styles, including bikini, boyshort, etc. Parents love the tankini swimwear style because it offers a lot of coverage. Teens love tankini swimwear because it lets them buy two or three different tops and bottoms, and then mix and match styles. Since you can buy tops and bottoms separately, you can buy them to fit each part of your body.

One Piece
As the name implies, one piece swimwear designs are one solid piece. While in the past the one piece wasn't always the most flattering of swimwear styles, today they come in tons of cool, sexy styles that still cover. For example, the monokini style combines the two piece look of bikinis with the convenience of one piece swimwear, to provide tummy coverage, sexy style, and an open back. Parent love them because they are available from affordable names, and teens love them because they have a unique, sexy look that mom and dad won’t freak out about.

Girls Boardshorts
Board shorts are styled to look like shorts, and are made out of swimwear fabric. They come in a few different styles, from short styles that skim the tops of the thighs, to longer styles that extend to mid-thigh or longer. Boardshorts are a popular look for those who enjoy surfing, and can be paired with a variety of tops, including bikini tops, tankini tops, wetsuit tops, etc. Teens love boardshorts because they evoke the idea of surfing, and are available from tons of cool surfing brand names like Hurley, Billabong, and Roxy. Parents love boardshorts because they can be worn over bikini bottoms to provide a little extra coverage.
