4. “Nebraska” (2013)


A black-and-white drama, “Nebraska” depicts the story of an old man who believes he’s won a million-dollar magazine sweepstakes and his son who unwillingly agrees to drive him to Nebraska to collect his winnings. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie’s simplicity has a form of elegance, making its message all the more poetic. Authentic and hilarious, this film received a 91 percent rating (with an 83 audience rating).

5. “In This World” (2003)

This story follows two Afghan teenagers as they make their way from Pakistan to London seeking refuge. Their journey forces them through many obstacles and to deal with unsavory people, but as the pair push on they grow with every new experience.

This film was given a rating of 89 percent since it tells a harrowing but important story about the plight of refugees, according to Rotten Tomatoes. A rewarding film, it is sure to capture your heart.
