Prophecies Fulfilled By Jesus: Christ's Birth Hailed by Believers

By    |   Wednesday, 29 October 2014 02:30 PM

Christian believers hail the birth of Jesus as the fulfillment of messianic prophecies and the coming of a savior to redeem humankind.

The Gospels share the significance and celebration of the birth of Jesus and are a foundation for Christian believers who continue to hail his birth.

In the Gospels, an angel appears to shepherds to spread the word of the birth of the savior Jesus: “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’”

Christians believe that the birth of Jesus fulfills prophecies held in the Old Testament, including:
• A messiah will be born to a virgin.
• He will be called Immanuel, or God with us.

“Jesus came into the world so we could be redeemed from our sins, know God, and experience His very best in our lives,” says Joyce Meyer ministries.

VOTE NOW: Is Christ Returning?

Jesus was born because of mankind’s sin, to reveal God’s character to humanity, to provide a perfect sacrifice for sin, to act as a mediator for a new covenant with God, to make it possible for followers to receive the Holy Spirit, and to redeem mankind, according to The United Church of God.

“The birth of Jesus is primarily about God’s unconditional love for the world,” says InTouch Ministries.

The Bible also extols the prophesied birth of Jesus in 1 Peter 3:5: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”
