Paul McCartney is set to release upcoming ballet ‘Ocean’s Kindgom,’ with Decca, the label that originally turned down the Beatles saying that the group had “no future in showbusiness,” reports the
Hollywood Reporter.
The ballet will premiere on September 22 at the New York City Ballet. Four subsequent performances will take place in September, with five additional following in January. Decca will release a recording of the show in Britain on October 3.
The four-movement, hour and a half, ballet is conducted by John Wilson and features the London Classical Orchestra performing. ‘Ocean’s Kingdom’ tells the story of an underwater world threatened by humans.
Of the work, McCartney said “trying to write something that expressed an emotion — so you have fear, love, anger, sadness to play with, and I found that exciting and challenging.”
