Mob life might be portrayed as one full of riches, but it’s also rife with conflict and danger. It’s no wonder movie fans are drawn to the classics, as they are full of compelling themes. And they’re full of memorable monologues, as provoking characters in the classics deliver the best mob movie speeches.

Here are four of the best modern mob movie speeches:

Vote Now: Who Is Your Favorite Actor of All Time?

Tony Montana in “Scarface”

The man who ended the film in a hail of cocaine and gunfire (Al Pacino) gave some sound advice to his friend in this 1983 blockbuster in regards to how to know one’s place when trying to get women:

“She's too big for you. Come on. Causin' trouble like that. Come on....What I try to tell you?...What I try to tell you? This country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the woman. That's why you gotta make your own moves.”

Don Corleone in “The Godfather”

This 1972 mob hit featured Corleone (played by Marlon Brando) debating whether to take the family business into trafficking narcotics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, and the decision leads to unprecedented bloodshed.

“I believe this drug business is gonna destroy us in the years to come. I mean, it's not like gambling or liquor, or even women, which is something that most people want nowadays and is forbidden to them by the pezzonovante of the church. Even the police departments that have helped us in the past with gambling and other things are gonna refuse to help us when it comes to narcotics. And I believed that then, and I believe that now... I hoped that we could come here and reason together. And as a reasonable man, I'm willing to do whatever's necessary to find a peaceful solution to these problems.” – From Filmsite's list of best speeches.

Vote Now: Which of These Actors Stands the Test of Time?

Michael Corleone in “The Godfather, Part 2”

Yet another Al Pacino character, in this memorable mob speech, Corleone chastises his older brother Fredo for conduct that could hurt the expanding family business.

“Fredo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't wanna know you or what you do. I don't wanna see you at the hotels. I don't want you near my house. When you see our mother, I wanna know a day in advance so I won't be there. You understand?” – Also, from Filmsite's list of best speeches.

Nicky Santoro in “Casino”

Santoro (played by Joe Pesci) is a mob hitman in a spiral of drugs and violence in this 1995 mob thriller, and he’s shaking down a banker to get some of his money.

“I think that you've gotten the wrong impression about me. I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance, tomorrow morning, I'll get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank, walk in and see and uh, if you don't have my money for me, I'll crack your (expletive) head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be comin' out of your coma. And guess what? I'll split your (expletive) head open again. 'Cause I'm (expletive) stupid. I don't give a (expletive) about jail. That's my business. That's what I do.”
