3. Dark chocolate provides magnesium and antioxidants that strengthen the heart. The rich delicacy improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure for heart protection.

Dark chocolate provides 24 percent of the daily value for magnesium, according to Everyday Health.

4. Ground flaxseed adds to heart-healthy snacking when sprinkled over cereal or yogurt. It also can be blended into smoothies, according to Health.
