Being able to hunt year-round is a dream for many hunters, and Wyoming offers that opportunity for a few animals in specific areas.
The Wyoming Fish and Game Department allows for continuous hunting of mountain lions in two areas of the state, sections 27 and 31, both in the northeastern corner of the state. There are only a few licenses available in area 31, while area 27 has an unlimited number of licenses for mountain lion hunting. In both areas, hunters can purchases a license for the big cats at a reduced price of a regular hunting license, subject to some limitations.
Trappers looking for badgers can also go after their prey year-round. Another benefit is that the WGFD has set no limit on how many badgers can be taken. Badger skins are quite valuable.
FurSource sells badger fur pelts for $69.95 for a hide approximately 250 square inches in size.

Even those animals that have specific hunting seasons can be hunted legally outside of their hunting season, providing that they meet certain criteria, the WFGD said. The state established designated depredation prevention hunting seasons for big game animals that cause damage to land, crops, stored crops, seed crops, improvements, or causing extraordinary damage to grass.
Depredation prevention hunting seasons also exist for trophy game animals causing damage to bees or to bee hives. Yet another reason for hunting animals outside of their traditional hunting season is to prevent disease that can be spread via big game animals.
Any animal that meets these criteria can be hunted at any point during the year. There are specific requirements Wyoming demands before hunters start to hunt animals under the guidelines. Most importantly, the chief game warden or one of his designees must verify the extent of the damage caused and designate the area that will fall under the special circumstances. If the land involved includes privately owned land, landowner permission must also be obtained.
