If you are interested in fall hunting in Florida, here’s some creatures you can legally hunt in the fall:

1. Deer
General gun season takes place from mid September to mid October in Zone A, which is comprised of Dade, Broward, Monroe, Collier, Glades, Lee and Hendry counties. During this season legal centerfire rifles and pistols, shotguns, muzzleloaders, crossbows and bows may take antlered deer.

2. Turkey (Fall)
Fall turkey season takes place in Zone A for just under two weeks in mid-October. Keep in mind dates are schedule to change per the Florida Wildlife Commission. All legal rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, crossbows, bows, and pistols may take gobblers and bearded-only turkeys during the fall season. A bag limit of two turkeys applies to this hunt.

3. Quail
Quail may be hunted in Zone A by muzzleloader, crossbow, or bow, for an almost two-week period in the fall. Zones B, C and D allow for quail hunts by bow only from mid-September to mid-October. There is a daily bag limit of 12 quail during this hunt, and a possession limit of 24.

4. Gray Squirrel
Gray squirrel season varies in the state’s hunting zones, but has a rather longer season than other game species. For Zone A, gray squirrel season starts August and runs sporadically through September. The season picks up again in early October, running until the spring. Zones B, C, and D primarily allow for squirrel hunting to take place from October to early spring. There is a daily bag limit of 12 squirrels and a possession limit of 24.

5. Wild Hog
Wild hog is hunted year-round in Florida and has no bag limit. Hogs can be trapped or shot and a hunting license is not required to take a hog. Transporting a live hog is illegal without the proper permit from the Florida Dept. of Agriculture.

6. Small Game
Small game animals such as raccoon, opossum, coyote, beaver and skunk are also part of Florida’s year round hunting season. Raccoons and opossum can be hunted at night with the use of .22-caliber rimfire firearms or single-shot .410 gauge shotguns. The use of lights to hunt animals is prohibited and there is no limit on any of these small game species.
