Hawaii's abortion statutes are "generally less restrictive" than laws passed in other states,
FindLaw reported.
Hawaii also is among nine other states to have no parental notification or consent requirements for minors seeking
abortions, according to Abort73.com, a subdivision of the anti-abortion Loxafamosity Ministries, Inc.
There is also no counseling requirement for an abortion in Hawaii, or mandatory 24-hour waiting period that has been embraced by 24 states.

Hawaii is among several states that use public funds to pay for abortions, Abort73.com noted.
NARAL Pro-Choice America gave Hawaii a grade of A for its choice-related laws and labeled its governor and legislature as “pro-choice.”
Among the laws that NARAL highlighted are Hawaii’s Freedom of Choice Act, which states that "(t)he State shall not deny or interfere with a female's right to choose or obtain an abortion of a nonviable fetus or an abortion that is necessary to protect the life or health of the female."
Americans United for Life ranked Hawaii at No. 45, saying the state “lacks the most basic protections for women and unborn children.”

AUL said that while the state allows only licensed doctors to perform abortions, the state maintains no enforceable abortion clinic regulations.
The state doesn’t protect unborn children in its criminal law, but allows civil action when a viable fetus is killed through a negligent or criminal act, AUL said.
