Georgia has a wide variety of indoor and outdoor gun ranges for pistol and rifle shooting. While there are a number of private and public places for practicing the sport, some ranges may require a Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass (GORP) which allows for year-round hunting.
Here are six gun range options in the state of Georgia:

1.
Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range
Sandy Springs, Georgia
This indoor shooting range is open to the public. It is a national shooting sports foundation five star range.
"For a walk in shooting experience this place is great," writes a reviewer. "The folks are always helpful and I particularly appreciate the way guys at the retail counter are always willing to take out guns for you to look at and answer questions."
2.
Eagle Gun Range, Inc.
Macon, Georgia
This range receives good reviews for being safe, clean and friendly. It is an indoor range and while the store does not allow shotguns or black powder guns, it does allow "any rifle chambered handgun caliber" to be used. For those wanting to sight-in a rifle, they have a computerized system that can scope a gun up to 1000 yards.
"I think it is the best overall gun range value in Georgia and North Florida," writes a reviewer on Google. "All their staff are friendly, experienced, knowledgeable. Their prices are very reasonable ... It is also probably the best place I've found to bring your wife or child for them to learn to shoot."
3.
Hannahatchee Creek WMA Shooting Range
Lumpkin, Georgia
The gun range at Hannahatchee is longer than most. It extends to 175 yards for rifles. The pistol range is 35 yards. A Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass (GORP) is required for shooting.
"Not a bad range. It is always clean and people do a good job of self-policing the range," writes a reviewer on Google, who gave the gun range four stars.

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest
Chestnut Mountain, Darnell, Sumac Creek, Cedar Creek
The United States Department of Agriculture offers four gun ranges in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. The Darnell Shooting Range offers 100 yard max distance and is free. It reached over a rough road which is hard to navigate with a regular car. They also have more upgraded facilities and offer handicap accessible shooting stands. Rifles and pistols are allowed at these ranges and a small fee is required. Cedar Creek is newer and offers 10 stations for target shooting.
"The place fills up pretty quickly so get there early and bring $5 dollars cash for parking," says a reviewer on Foursquare for the Chestnut Mountain Range.
5.
South River Gun Club
Covington, Georgia
The South River Gun Club is a membership organization, but has a wide variety of shooting events. The rifle range extends to 300 yards. The club has 22 shooting pits and also offers trap and skeet shooting. It also has a large clubhouse. Guests are welcome with members for a day fee to shoot at the pistol and rifle ranges.
"I appreciate the culture established by the members. Most people I see in pits are serious guys who do not fool around. I highly encourage everyone who is looking for a great range to visit South River Gun Club," writes a reviewer on Google, who gives the range a five star rating.
6.
Atlanta Range and Ordnance, Inc.
Newnan, Georgia
This indoor range has a new air filtration system, large stalls and can accommodate five shooting lanes and up to 10 shooters at a time. Birthdays and special event packages are available that include gun rental, safety gear and instruction.
"Newnan has waited a long time for a range and the staff couldn't be better. If Gary Jr can't get it for you then it isn't out there. Couldn't be more pleased with the experience," writes a reviewer on Google.
