6 Golf Tips From Dustin Johnson

By    |   Friday, 24 Feb 2017 03:40 PM

Dustin Johnson has the reputation of being one of the longest drivers on the PGA tour with the ability to hit the ball straight at the same time. With that kind of talent, he has plenty of golf tips to improve anyone’s game.

During his nearly 10 years as a pro golfer, Johnson has racked up a dozen PGA tour victories. In 2016 alone, the 32-year-old linksman won the U.S. Open, the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, and the BMW Championship.

He has some unique approaches in all phases of his golf game to help benefit others. These six golf tips from Dustin Johnson will help turn you into a winner on the course:

URGENT: Who's The Greatest Golfer Of All Time? Vote Now

1. Tee shot — Johnson prefers the aggressive start, rather than playing it safe. He recommends taking the best tee shot you can to put yourself in a better position, according to Golf Chats.

2. Stance — Johnson keeps his right knee flexed while allowing his arms to flow back down in front of the clubhead, Athlon Sports & Life reports. The position helps him slow down enough so he doesn’t over-swing for longer, accurate drives.

3. Balance — Maintain your balance as you swing. Johnson keeps his arms, legs, and feet in proper motion to make sure he swings correctly for enough power, but not too much.

4. Swing with the head and body — Johnson’s head turns along with his body during the swing, Golf.com notes. Some golfers make the mistake of pointing their eyes to the ground for too long as they swing. This can put too much strain on the neck.

5. Concentrate on the ball — After hitting a strong drive, Johnson continues with an aggressive swing on the fairway. Although you might consider the wind or other weather conditions, keep your swing focused on the ball for optimal impact.

6. Swing exercise — Using the mind and body provides a powerful swing like Johnson’s. The mind helps the muscles move in the right sequence, Johnson’s trainer, Joey Diovisalvi, tells Golf Digest. Signal the right-side muscles of the body, if you’re right-handed, on the backswing and use the stored power on the opposite side during the downswing.
