Alabama offers an abundance of fishing opportunities for residents as well as visitors to the state. But knowing where you can get the most current, up-to-date information about fishing in Alabama can be tricky.

A number of online resources and mobile apps provide anglers with information about fishing regulations and opportunities within the state. Here is a look at some of online/mobile resources available to fishermen in Alabama.

1. Outdoor Alabama Application
This free application provides anglers with hunting and fishing information and is operated by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Powered by Pocket Ranger, users can find season dates, license information, places to fish, GPS mapping, and species profiles. The app also offers enhanced features that work with little to no mobile signal. Users of both Android and Apple smartphones can download the app.

2. Outdoor Alabama Website
The website is very similar to the app, but also includes in-depth information about state fishery meetings, trends, and research. Fishermen can also report their fishing harvest information online at this website.

3. The Official Alabama State Parks Guide App
This app, a collaboration between the Alabama State Parks and the ParksByNature Network, provides trip planning advice to users. Android and Apple smartphone users can utilize the app's navigational tools, see photo galleries of the area they wish to travel to, learn about plant and animal life within the park, access weather, park trail maps, and all activities that are allowed or taking place within a state park. Fishermen can also use this app to make online camping reservations at their fingertips.

4. Alabama Road Trips App
Alabama Road Trips is another state operated app. The app is a project of the Alabama Tourism & Travel Bureau and aims to provide tourists with information about their destinations. Fishermen will find the road trip destination app filled with suggestions about dining, lodging, and historical points of interest they may run into. The free, user-friendly app provides information about all of the cities and beaches in Alabama.
