Though he says he tries to keep an open mind on the topic, quotes from comedian and political commentator Dennis Miller suggest he’s given the cold shoulder to global warming.

Skepticism mixed with humor characterizes Miller’s approach to the topic. Here are five quotes from Miller about global warming.

1. He discussed his reluctance to consider global warming a serious problem during “All In,” an HBO comedy special aired in 2006.

“I don't even know if I believe in global warming. I don't disbelieve, but I need a little more information. It would appear that the crux of the problem is, over the last century, the temperature has gone up a couple of degrees. Eh maybe, maybe not. Excuse me for not trusting temperature figures from the year 1905. They're still (defecating) outside in the woods, but I'm supposed to believe they had a stranglehold on the Fahrenheit of the Earth's magma. I'm sure that was an accurate reading.”

2. During the same program, Miller made reference to the “Dust Bowl” conditions parts of the United States experienced about 80 years ago.

“Do you think that during the Dust Bowl in the 1930s in the Midwest people thought ‘Wow, this must be global warming’ or did they just think ‘(Expletive), it hasn't rained in a while.’"

3. Miller has also downplayed how seriously people will be affected if the Earth’s temperature keeps rising at its current rate. He said in 2003 on Fox News: “There are a lot of vying statistics, but I think the crux of it is the temperature has gone up roughly 1.8 degrees over 100 years. Am I the only one who finds that amazingly stable? Hey, I'm happy it's gone up. I'm always a little chilly anyway. Then people ask me if I'm worried about the effects of global warming on my kids. Well, obviously I love my kids and I want them to live to be 100. So that's another 1.8. My kids’ kids? Three point six. I'll just tell them we moved to Phoenix.”

4. Miller’s jabs at global warming sometimes focus less on the topic and more on the people who strongly believe in it and the zeal they show in advocating it.

Miller commented last March on “The O’Reilly Factor” about the presence of Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) among four lawmakers who earlier participated in the so-called “Up4Climate” talk-a-thon on the U.S. Senate floor.

"Those four people are idiots," he said. "Our leaders are idiots. I admire the other three for risking waking up to see what Barbara Boxer looks like in the morning. But simply, her Secret Service name is 'Polar Vortex,' alright? ... If she thinks there is global warming that is enough of a reason for me to think there is not global warming because she and the other three: massive idiots. We should be ashamed of ourselves for the leaders we pick in this world.”

5. Miller told Fox News in 2007 he thought global warming believers were growing “increasingly hysterical.”

“Global warming is officially becoming creepy and I can't tell yet if it's fascistic or fetishistic but it's kinda like piercing or tattoos, I don't even wanna get one, because I see how hooked people are and it spooks me. I just find it odd that we've come to a point in history where if I don't concede that if Manhattan will be completely submerged in 2057 I'm thought to be a delusional contrarian by some of my more zealous fellow citizens. I'm sorry Angst Squad, but if we commissioned a public works project (let's call it 'The Manhattan Project') and tried our hardest to submerge Manhattan in the next 50 years, we couldn't pull it off, mainly because it wouldn't be environmentally sound and you guys would hang it up in the permitting process. Simply put, I can't worry about the Earth right now because I'm too worried about the world. Why can't I take terrorism as seriously as Al Gore takes global warming?”
