Cruise News: 4 Best Destinations for 2018

By    |   Tuesday, 05 September 2017 09:27 AM

A cruise holiday is as much about the journey as it is about the destination.

That said, some destinations are always going to be just a little more special than others.

European, Mediterranean, and Caribbean destinations are perennial favorites, but there are new spots popping up every year.

Here’s a look at some of the top cruise destinations for 2018:

1. Bali in Indonesia — This island gem was recently named the greatest destination on earth by TripAdvisor’s 2017 Traveler’s Choice Awards.

With its picturesque beaches, dense jungles, and hospitality, Bali is great for those seeking adventure and for those just wanting to relax alike.

According to USA Today, the island is a port of call for many cruise lines. Some visit Indonesian Islands specifically, while others travel via India and Australia.

Thanks to the exchange rate, traveling to Bali is fairly inexpensive and, once you get there, you’ll be able to enjoy an affordable holiday. For example, a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant will cost you 280,000 Indonesian Rupiah, which currently works out to about $21 USD.

What’s more, U.S. citizens don’t need a visa to visit.

2. Any Carnival Cruise Line destination — American-British Cruise company Carnival Corporation was awarded the Supplier Partner of the Year Award for 2017 by the American Society of Travel Agents.

According to TTR Weekly, the company was honored for its service and creative pricing.

Carnival Corporations has a fleet of more than 100 ships traveling to 700 countries and operates under well-known brands like Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, and Holland America Line.

With so many cruises to choose from, you’ll be sure to find something that suits your wallet.

The company also works closely with travel agents to make sure they can offer you the best possible cruise to suit your needs.

3. San Diego — If you’re planning a domestic trip, look no further than San Diego. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the port is steadily rebuilding its reputation as a top destination.

In fact, the port's cruise marketing representative, Adam Deaton, is expecting to see 20,000 more cruise passengers during the 2017/2018 cruise season.

Disney is one of the companies that ends its cruises in San Diego and Deaton says it’s because they see the city as a great vacation destination with everything their customers need right near the cruise terminals.

According to Cruise Critic, the port of San Diego enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year and there’s a lot to do, from visiting SeaWorld or the San Diego Zoo, to hiking in the Cuyamaca Mountains.

4. Costa Maya, Mexico or the Grand Cayman Islands, on a Zumba Cruise — Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas will run its third annual Zumba Cruise in April 2018.

The first two were sold out, prompting the cruise company to add two new destinations and an even better entertainment lineup.

According to Cruise Fever, the cruise will feature all-day pool parties, spa treatments, live music entertainment, and Zumba classes presented by a host of celebrity instructors, including the creator of Zumba Fitness himself, Beto Perez.
