Christian colleges offer an opportunity for students to pursue their academic interests in a place where their religious beliefs are supported and emphasized.
As with different denominations and even churches, the leaning toward a liberal or conservative viewpoint occurs among Christian colleges.
Here are nine conservative Christian colleges in the United States:
Christendom College
Christendom College, Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, is
considered one of the most conservative Christian colleges in the country, according to Young America’s Foundation. It offers six majors in theological studies, as well as a master’s program. It opened in 1977 and is one of the newer campuses.
College of the Ozarks
College of the Ozarks is
so down to business, it was nicknamed “Hard Work U” by the Wall Street Journal. One of the ways it stands out is with special work-study projects where students can work off their tuition. The school also has an honor code, dress requirements, and characterization program, all which are required.

Wisconsin Lutheran College
Wisconsin Lutheran College is one of the few conservative Christian colleges located in an urban setting. The Milwaukee-based four-year school is rooted in the Holy Scripture and offers programs that prepare students for law, medical, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. Forbes and U.S. News & World Report have both
consistently named it on their lists of America’s Best Colleges, according to Young America’s Foundation.
Thomas Aquinas College
Thomas Aquinas College, Santa Paula, California, has an enrollment of about 350 students. It is a Catholic school with
its entire curriculum based on the “great books” of Western civilization, the YAF site said.
Grove City College
Grove City College, near Pittsburgh, is one of the larger Christian colleges on the YAF list, with an enrollment around 2,500. According to YAF, it believes in fostering “intellectual, moral, spiritual and social development consistent” with Christian values.

Biola University
Biola University, in Southern California near Los Angeles, was formerly named the Bible Institute, and
students are required to take 30 units of biblical studies, according to TheBestSchools.org. “In addition to their chosen major, all Biola students graduate with a minor in Biblical Studies,” the site said.
Liberty University
Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, was founded by Rev. Jerry Falwell, and is associated with the Baptist Church. It has the mission of “Training Champions for Christ,” according to TheBestSchools.org. Students are required to go to chapel services at least three times every week.
Colorado Christian University
Colorado Christian University, in Lakewood, offers a strong conservative infrastructure and programming, according to YAF. The school’s strategic mission statement says, among other things, it is dedicated to “traditional family values, sanctity of life, compassion for the poor, Biblical view of human nature, limited government, personal freedom, free markets, natural law, original intent of the Constitution and Western civilization,” YAF said.

Brigham Young University
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, is a privately run university owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS). “It is the largest religious university—and the third-largest private university—in the country,” TheBestSchools.org said. BYU, in keeping with Mormon beliefs, forbids alcohol, pre-marital sex, and enforces a dress and grooming policy.
