Hollywood Actors Who Oppose California Gun Laws

By    |   Tuesday, 24 March 2015 03:36 AM EDT

California’s strong gun laws don’t seem to faze some outspoken Hollywood actors concerned about gun control. The mandatory waiting periods and strict regulations on firearms make California a top state in gun reform measures, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Gun rights advocates in Hollywood, although they seem outnumbered by gun control activists, continue to express their views on the Second Amendment whenever they can.

James Woods has become outspoken about his conservative opinions, saying he doesn’t care if it hurts his acting career.

One of his pro-gun tweets in December 2014 stated: “Never felt more certain that the Second Amendment is a necessity to protect the Bill of Rights from tyranny.”

“Die Hard” star Bruce Willis has also voiced his concerns about the threat to the Bill of Rights. Once gun control advocates and politicians succeed in picking away at one amendment, “then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?” he asks.

Vince Vaughn isn’t shy about his libertarian views. “I believe in the right to defend yourself if need be,” he told Playboy magazine.

“I believe it’s up to the individual. I don’t believe rights come in groups.”

Aside from demonstrating their firing skills in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” Brad Pitt and wife Angelina Jolie take pride in their gun expertise. No matter what their views on California’s specific laws, they have no problem keeping a gun in the house for the family’s protection. Jolie once said that if anyone broke into the home to harm their children, “I’ve no problem shooting them.”

Gary Sinise and James Earl Jones have pointed out the importance of law-abiding citizens needing protection from the Second Amendment to avoid the aggression of the bad guys.

Action star and martial arts expert Chuck Norris has spoken and written about measures intended to curb crime, which should not interfere with Second Amendment rights that protect people.

If gun rights advocates in Hollywood oppose some of California’s gun laws, they continue to exercise their Second Amendment rights. “Criminal Minds” star Joe Mantegna involves himself with TV shows about guns while enjoying competition and skeet shooting.

Mantegna says, “I’ve shot pretty much every handgun caliber you can think of,” and he chooses his weapons carefully, whether for competitive events or the guns he uses on TV.
