As any golfer will tell you, a good game of golf relies as much on your equipment as it does on skill.
If you’re going to hit the links, you’ll need the best golf bag for lugging your clubs around and, according to Golf Digest brand editor Ashley Mayo, a good golf bag should be like a good supporting actor: “It should do its job well, but it should never be the center of attention.”
Mayo suggests looking for three important things when shopping for a bag: lots of different sized pockets, a lightweight design, and comfortable straps.
Here’s a list of six of the best golf bags released in the last two years:
1. Callaway Org 14 Golf Cart Bag — This one tops a lot of the “best golf bag” lists thanks to it’s versatility and value for money.

ThoughtCo.com adds that the bag can easily be attached to a cart or pushcart, with a lip to keep it securely in place. Despite all these extra features, the Callaway Org 14 Golf Cart Bag weighs just 5.6 pounds. A newer version is available with even more pockets.
2. Sun Mountain 2016 Clubglider — In an article for Ezvid, writer Tina Morna Freitas rates the Sun Mountain 2016 Clubglider as her favorite golf travel bag.
Made from vinyl-reinforced nylon, this bag also features heavy duty two-way zippers for extra durability.
A retractable stand props the bag up for easy access. The stand is also on wheels, making the bag easy to pull around in most terrain.

Weighing only 2.4 pounds, this bag has four pockets that include one for valuables, a rain hood, and drinks. There’s also a full-length, four-way divider system and a host of extras like an umbrella holder, pen holder, and a towel holder.

With a price tag of $99.99, Heavy.com says the OGIO Golf 2017 Tyro Stand Bah is a great affordable choice that doesn’t compromise on quality.
Despite weighing only 4.8 pounds, the bag features a six-way top, six pockets, and a four-strap shoulder strap design for extra comfort.
5. Titleist Golf- 2016 Lightweight Stand Bag — A favorite among many reviewers, the Titleist Golf- 2016 Lightweight Stand Bag weighs about 5.5 pounds when empty, according to Where’s my Caddie?.
It’s a little pricier than some of the other options on this list, but you’ll be using it for a while. It’s made from durable material with sound construction and weather-resistant zippers.
The Golf Spy adds that it features a four-way top with two full-length dividers and six pockets. They also point out that it’s comfortable to carry.
6. Ping Hoofer — This is hands down, Golf Digest’s favorite bag as it ticks all three of brand editor Ashley Mayo’s requirements for a good golf bag: It has lots of pockets, it has comfortable straps, and it’s lightweight.
According to The Golf Spy, a 14-way reinforced dividing top will keep your clubs safe, while the dual strap system makes the bag feel almost like a backpack. Then there are the eight handy pockets, which include a waterproof valuables pocket and a rain hood, making it great in any weather.
