Barack Obama Signature: What Handwriting Analysts Say About President

By    |   Monday, 24 Nov 2014 04:03 PM

The Barack Obama signature opens a variety of clues to the president's personality, including some traits that observers may have already noticed in his public behavior.

Obama seems to have a desire for responsibility, but also a desire to be needed by other people. His signature shows a fluidity of thoughts, which probably provides him with his communication skills, according to the World of Handwriting Analysis.

The handwriting illustrates a need for social importance and to stand out in the crowd. The analysis also indicates a determination that guided him toward his goals.

Along with these characteristics, his signature suggests a cautious approach in his dealings. This may explain his tendency at slowly making decisions, often interpreted as being misguided or a person of indecision. But Obama could be a perfectionist in this regard, arriving at a decision only when completely satisfied.

Insight Analytical took a more detailed approach of examining a handwritten note left by Obama at the Western Wall in Israel in 2008 and copied samples of the Barack Obama signature on some campaign literature.

Obama’s signature differs in style from his more controlled writing, which reveals coolness. A person’s signature is usually different from his writing because it shows what the person wants other people to think.

Obama uses large capital letters in his signature, which suggests a feeling of pride or at least compensation for feelings of inadequacy or smallness. The capital letters in his signature are legible, but the rest of the signature is illegible. As with the World of Handwriting Analysis, Insight Analytical concludes Obama wants to stand out in public. The capital letters in his signature indicate a need to communicate thoughts, but the illegible part of the handwriting suggests a need for secrecy.

The letters “B” and “O” are six times larger than the other letters in his signature, notes Marion DS Dreyfus, a graphanalyst for private companies and police agencies. It means “that his hubris is massive,” Dreyfus says. An interesting indication of his self love and inability to admit wrongdoing is the extra-long small “b” in Obama.

Dreyfus goes deep into analysis when pointing out that the “B” in Barack is larger than the “O” in Obama. This could reveal a huge sense of ego and confidence by identifying with his first name while distancing himself from the last name that represents his deceased father. The first letter in Barack also has an introverted upsweep showing self-protectiveness while the “O” in Obama is wobbly and indicates his preference for himself over the family name.

People usually leave a space between their first and last names in their signatures. The lack of any break between the two names in the Barack Obama signature might show closeness with the past of his family, which he is not ready to reveal.
