Aphasia: Top 10 Treatment Centers

The treatment for aphasia patients depends on the cause of the syndrome. In the acute states stroke treatment or blood pressure therapies may help. Surgeries and antiviral therapy may also be beneficial.

Language and speech therapy is beneficial in the treatment of aphasia patients. The results vary on a wider scale based on the situation of treatment, but studies have proven that language and speech therapy is helpful in aphasia treatment. Custom made therapies and the individualization of the patient depending on the case shows better results. Based on the rankings given by U.S. News, the top ten hospitals for psychiatry and aphasia in the United States are:
  1. Massachusetts General Hospital: A 907-bed general medical and surgical facility with 16 adult and four pediatric specialties. The address is Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, Mass. 02114-2696.

  3. McLean Hospital: A 177-bed psychiatric facility accredited by the Joint Commission. The address is McLean Hospital, 115 Mill Street, Belmont, Mass. 02478-9106.
  4. New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell: A 2,192-bed general medical and surgical facility with 15 adult and 10 pediatric specialties. The address is New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, 525 East 68th Street, New York, NY.
  5. Menninger Clinic: A 104-bed psychiatric facility accredited by the Joint Commission. The address is Menninger Clinic, 2801 Gessner, Houston, TX, 77080.
  6. Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center: A 595-bed general medical and surgical facility with 15 adult and nine pediatric specialties. The address is Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, 757 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, Calif.
  7. Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital: A 300-bed psychiatric facility accredited by the Joint Commission. The address is Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, 6501 North Charles Street, Baltimore, Md.

  9. UPMC-University of Pittsburgh Medical Center: A 1517-bed general medical and surgical facility with 14 adult specialties. The address is UPMC-University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, 200 Lothrop Street, Pittsburgh, Pa.
