World-renowned opera star Placido Domingo will unveil a new album inspired by the poetry of the late Pope John Paul II on Friday, the Vatican reports.
The Spanish-Mexican Domingo plans to introduce the 12-song collection, titled Amore Infinito (Infinite Love), at a Vatican news conference in Rome.
The album features duets with his son, Placido Jr., as well as with American gospel singer Vanessa Williams, according to details posted by Italian Internet bookshop ibs.it. Williams’ 2002 debut album landed in the top 10 of the Billboard gospel chart.
The record, released by the German music label Deutsche Grammophon, goes on sale in Italy on the same day.
The elder Domingo was one of the celebrated Three Tenors, along with Jose Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti.
