Tim Conway has come to rescue you.
For folks weary of the endless parade of young new comics who rely on vulgarity and shock to elicit laughs, Conway and the good folks turning out the Thou Shalt Laugh DVDs have once again gathered a solid line up of stand-up talent that keeps it clean and funny.
Five-time Emmy Award winner Conway plays host on the new DVD Thou Shalt Laugh -- The Deuce, which features 90-minutes of family friendly comedy recorded at Faith Community Church in Southern California. And while the show comes courtesy of the producers of the wildly successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour, none of these performers works blue.
The Christian-centric comedy concert is not only appropriate for all ages; it’s entertaining for all ages. Conway deftly drives the show, and seasoned performers such as Saturday Night Live alum Victoria Jackson and comedy veteran Thor Ramsey provide the yuks.
Thou Shalt Laugh -- The Deuce also provides a terrific showcase for up-and-coming comics such as Dan Nainan and Bone Hampton. But the show belongs to uber-talented, multi-faceted Taylor Mason, who brings down the house with his closing act incorporating puppets, music and flat-out funny material. Mason is worth the price of admission all by himself.
This is a DVD you can trot out no matter who is in the room. There’s no cringing over off-color jokes here, and everyone is left laughing.
