The 24/7 mantra of the Never-Trumpers has reached a level of utter insanity in American politics. It appears there is no threshold or limitations to the constant beating of the drums of negativity.
Has the left gone too far? Are their complaints becoming folly to the eyes and ears of the American public? It appears their pessimism is like a drug. The cure is nowhere in sight and the addiction leaves scorched earth wherever it spreads.
The argument can be made using last week’s headlines. Naturally the liberal froth centered on the Moby Dick of their soul: Donald Trump.
Working themselves into a frenzy of doomsday predictions, their accusations wildly varied from presidential incompetence to outright traitorous behavior.
The anger was predictable and the diatribe familiar. Switching from one channel to another, the similarities in voiced adjectives was troubling. The faces were varied but the words were strangely duplicated. It was as if the hysterical guests had gathered together before air time to share their notes.
There appeared to be little interest in substantive facts. The venue was less discussion than personal commentary with the hosts allowing guests to pontificate their views without interruption. The commander in chief was the enemy and clearly a Russian stooge. President Trump has gone to Europe to specifically destroy the NATO alliance and receive his Kremlin marching orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin in Finland.
All the flying accusations were done with perfectly serious expressions. By the demeanor of the various hosts, one would have come away considering the frenzied discussions genuine hard news; alarming, but true.
There was little interest in measured response. The operative word was "gotcha." Supposed “counterintelligence experts” labeled the president the enemy. Suggestions of conspiracy rattled the airwaves as voices were raised and suspiciously rehearsed talking points poured like maple syrup.
As the week progressed, the viewing audience became familiar with words like "treasonous" and "sedition." They were literally out of their minds with venomous hatred, real or otherwise.
Missing from this lovefest of hostility was the undeniable fact that the punching bag they hate so much actually loves his country. Their “analysis” of him is tainted with personal dislike and other factors that remain hidden, such as a worrisome career path or possible rejection in a changing country.
The truth that is seldom heard on these venues, lest their small audiences depart in disgust by balanced reporting, is alien to their partisan ears. Over the past 18 months millions of lives have been improved in this country. That has been accomplished through a booming economy and heightened national security. The president’s enemies appear to be curiously distant to those stark realities. It is as if they loathe the positive altogether. It doesn’t fit their bleak narrative.
Reasonable people have honest discussions. That is virtually non-existent in the political environment Americans face today. The same people who condemned Trump for asking our allies to pay their fair share to the alliance turn around to use the same language toward the wealthiest of Americans.
The same people who condemn the president for lack of aggression with Vladimir Putin condemn him for having that behavior toward North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. There can be no positives and apparently that is the rule in their talking points. What would be an outrage to say about their idol Barack Obama is open season with this president.
The left wants to devour the whole cake and leave zero crumbs behind for the rest. The crumbs are what the little people got from the tax cuts, according to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Nothing is ever enough for them if it isn’t their side presenting it.
One can almost hear an interviewer asking an angry liberal what they are protesting. The standard response would be, “What have you got?”
This form of madness continues to grip the left-leaning media. It provides decent ratings for their brand of anarchy. To be subtler brings the fear of less advertisers and lower revenue. One must ask the question; what would make the left truly happy? Anyone who misses the answer is not thinking hard enough: it is power.
