In tiny print on the back page of most newspapers was a curious item the other day. It seems that President Donald Trump has attained an approval rating that is higher than former President Barack Obama’s on the same date in 2010, according to a recent Rasmussen poll.

It is not a story that most media members wish to tout or even report. But it is the latest story in a long, slow progression of political annihilation for the Democratic Party.

Shortly after the election of Obama in 2008, the winds of political change began in earnest. After the controversial passage of Obamacare in April 2010, the Democrats were swept out of majority control in the House.

It was followed a short time later by the Republicans retaking the Senate majority for the first time in decades. The trend continued throughout the country as Republicans now have a majority of the state legislatures and governorships.

Enter Donald Trump, the far left’s worst nightmare, with his stunning presidential victory in November, 2016. Coming virtually out of nowhere, this non-politician billionaire businessman was thrust onto the national scene.

It began the most concentrated media assault on a presidency ever witnessed in the 242 years of this republic. Everything including the kitchen sink has been thrown at this president to resist and undermine his every move.

Trump has fought the liberals at every turn with a success hard to digest if you are one of the millions of Americans who hate his guts. Yet this president has persevered through a mountain of bad publicity and harsh rhetoric.

Rasmussen reported Thursday that Trump’s approval rating is at 48 percent. That is a statistical tie with his disapproval rating of 50 percent. Incredible numbers considering recent media reports claimed his ratings were the lowest in history. That is hardly the case.

But the more incredible news sends liberals into hysterics. Barack Obama’s approval rating on February 8, 2010, was 46 percent with a disapproval rating of 54 percent. One can visually see liberal hair being torn out all over Washington.

The mere fact that this besieged president, with few friends in the so-called mainstream media, can provide this sort of showing in a major poll is astounding on its own merits. While his negative media coverage hovers around 90 percent, his predecessor enjoyed almost the exact opposite.

Rasmussen reported that until last week, Trump’s disapproval rating had never dipped below 50 percent in ten months. It appears that the tax cuts, his fierce stand on illegal immigration, the growing economy and the low unemployment figures supersede the dedicated haters of his presidency.

Thursday marked the fifth consecutive day the president’s approval rating was 48 percent or 49 percent. It should make Democrats and their media allies re-think their one issue agenda of hating Trump 24/7.
