The writing was on the wall the day President Obama signed Obamacare into law in 2010. Now eight years later it is coming to pass. The Congressional Budget Office recently announced that Obamacare exchanges will raise healthcare premiums an average of 15 percent in 2019.

But there is a twist provided for who is to blame for this bad news. The embarrassed Democrats and their Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are claiming President Trump for the increase. But just to make it more dramatic, Trump is also responsible for the rate hikes — and for "deliberately sabotaging our health care system."

One can be assured Schumer has never read the convoluted law that languishes well over a thousand pages. If he had, he would have recognized that this day would come long ago. Yes Chuck, it was your own party that brought this scourge upon Americans as you told us it would save healthcare.

The inherent and tangled web of built-in mandates to the law doomed it from the beginning. Americans can thank the lack of leadership and poor thinking towards the future for the half-baked law.

The protective liberals of what they perceive as Obama’s legacy is laughable. Their claim is Republicans are to blame for present-day premium hike and the repeal of their beloved individual mandate eight years after they signed it into law without one Republican vote. The Democrats purposely leave out the real-world details that the insurance companies backing up Obamacare’s countless flaws would go broke without a profit they can show.

Democrats are quick to go to their personal ATM known as taxpayers when their ideas and schemes don’t work out. Unfortunately, the president who made his billion as a businessman, hired thousands of workers and met payrolls, sees the outrage in such outrageous thinking.

Insurance companies are not being reimbursed. There is a provision in Obamacare that forces them to reduce out-of-pocket costs for low-income enrollees. A hush will blow through this detail with the Democrats when the stark fact that Congress never approved this little issue is raised. But like good liberals who are adept at spending another person’s money, they did it anyway during the Obama era.

But rain came to their parade of pseudo-socialism. A federal judge found this to be unconstitutional. That’s the document progressives sidestep at every turn, describing it as something old guys wrote a long time ago.

But the Obama administration made these little rules anyway, even after a federal judge found them unconstitutional. I mean, who is really in charge here?

Well, along comes the foil to all the Democrat’s plans for healthcare, Donald Trump. He stopped the cost-sharing reduction payments last fall. No one on the left will tell the American people that if these payments had continued another year, the insurers would have received another $10 billion in taxpayer money. You know, your money the progressives love to spend when they screw things up.

Naturally, now caught with their eyes in the headlights, they provide a Theodore Cleaver excuse. The weasels say insurers are hiking premiums to make up for that lost revenue. Their allies at CNN and MSNBC will back them up as will the jobless kids marching in the streets before dinner at their parents' and bedtime in the basement.

Then there is the individual mandate Trump got rid of. It was repealed as part of the tax reform law which reduced the so-called “tax” for not having proof of insurance to zero. No one on the left says that was an outrage to begin with because it was their Rube Goldberg way of patching up a sinking ship they built.

The left feels this repeal will send their potential customers scurrying. Why get health insurance if they won’t fine me? Many healthy people who are critical to health insurance being cost-effective will leave for obvious reasons. There is no question the premiums were going to skyrocket as it is.

But let’s review the history of this flawed law. When Obamacare exchanges opened in 2014, the least-expensive mid-level "silver" plans were roughly 50 percent more expensive, on average, than the typical individual market plan in 2013. That was only the beginning of more broken promises and false claims.

Between 2015 and 2016, an average premium for the so-called lowest-priced silver plans jumped 5 percent and then another 7.5 percent. In late 2016, before Trump took office, insurers told the disillusioned that premium hikes for 2017 exchange plans would rise another 25 percent.

Is it reasonable to expect anyone to remain in a business deal where the other party has lied repeatedly and fines you for not sticking it out? Should there be any legitimate court decision that would not side with them in their dispute? "No" is the answer the left provides us as they openly insult the American people with their pious interpretation of their own personal rules of the road.

The fact is individual market plans have more than doubled since 2013. It is a fact that sick people cost more to insure than healthier people. The Obama administration placed everyone in the individual market and the same risk pool. It created artificially higher subsidized coverage.

The result? A 2017 McKinsey study found that the guaranteed health insurance no matter what your health issue caused up to 75 percent rate increases. One would think that would prompt all sides of the argument to sit down and figure out something more reasonable. That is entirely possible, but not feasible while the Democrats troll for votes rather than answers.

The federal government must begin to fund state-level high-risk pools. Those with chronic pre-existing conditions will be allowed to purchase subsidized (taxpayer) insurance. This will eliminate two distinct groups of insured individuals to get reasonable costs.
