It is a fact that in the last six of seven presidential elections the Republican candidate has lost the popular vote. But with the obvious panic the country is seeing lately from the Democratic Party, you’d never think that.
The Democrats are deeply worried, and they should be. Since the election of Barack Obama in 2008, elected lawmakers from the Democratic Party have lost over 1,000 state and federal seats throughout the U.S. With the election of Donald Trump in his stunning victory over Hillary Clinton, panic has set in with the party faithful.
One would think the senior party members would be focused on better and more electable candidates. You would be wrong. Instead, it appears the party thinking is to transform the country into a slam dunk for Democrats in every election.
How will they do that?
One of the latest ideas being put forth is lowering the voting age to 16-years-old. The obvious intention is to bolster the liberal base with kids who have neither been in the real world, held a job, or paid taxes. Naturally the allure of free everything, which is the Democratic mantra, would be appealing to naïve teenagers unable to ask where the money for ‘free’ comes from.
Their second goal is to abolish the Electoral College which was the undoing of both Hillary Clinton (2016) and Al Gore (2000). They both won the popular vote and lost the election by electoral votes. It is the Democrat’s mission to place the power of the vote into the hands of a few states like populous liberal California, New York, and Illinois at the expense of smaller states less liberal and less represented population-wise.
But that’s not all.
The Democrats are feeling the conservative pinch at the Supreme Court level with two Trump appointees since he was elected. They want to change the number of justices on the bench, or perhaps have term limits instead of lifetime appointments. This was already attempted by Franklin Roosevelt back in the 1930’s when he was losing the battle for his ‘New Deal’ proposals.
Scornful Democrats on the left are also advocates of open borders where there is a free flow of immigrants mostly from Mexico and Latin America. Again, the left hides behind its virtuous statements about courageous immigrants, but they understand the word ‘free’ is generally associated with the Democratic Party and that’s how these people will generally vote.
Lastly, there is talk of re-appropriating the number of senators per state, or better yet, create new states. It is argued that states like California and New York should have more than states like Wyoming or North Dakota. Again, conservative versus liberal.
It doesn’t take a political scholar to see what this all means. The Democratic Party is in stark panic for their very survival. They are fully aware they have lost valuable political power and they want it back by any means. Either by popular vote, legislation, or changing the Constitution, the operative word is ‘power.’ Power at any price no matter what it may do to the country.
That is the least of their worries. To them it is dog eat dog and any citizen in their way is either a racist, non-inclusive, intolerant, or some kind of ‘phobic.’ These so-called plans are designed to put victory as far out of reach for national Republicans as it is today for California Republicans.
Democracy for Democrats has fallen out of style. The name of their game now is autocracy.
