Trump's Credibility, Electability Will Rise in Wake of Mueller Report

It is now 28 months since Donald Trump did the unthinkable and won the 2016 presidential election.

He did it by defeating 16 other Republican contenders and Hillary Clinton.

Trump had no prior experience in the military, politics, or government of any kind. In other words, Trump had no record to run on in 2016 except that of a successful billionaire entrepreneur and television celebrity.

What about re-election in 2020? The Democrats have come out of the box moving further than ever to the far left. In fact, it appears to be a competition to see who can be the biggest socialist in the bunch. Are they basically handing Donald Trump a second term?

If things at home and abroad stay about the same or improve, without a war or recession, Trump will likely repeat his 2016 Electoral College victory. Of course, if there is a serious recession or a downward slide in employment, all bets are off.

Trump’s polling numbers are like Bill Clinton’s or Barack Obama’s at this point in their presidencies. In Clinton’s first midterm election, the Democrats lost 14 seats in the House. Democrats under Obama lost 23 more seats than Trump did.

All that aside, both former presidents handily won re-election.

In 2020, Trump’s war cry will effectively be that he is the only person standing between socialism versus democracy. Should the Democrats continue their trajectory into the far-left, welfare-state nonsense, Trump will win easily.

Thus far, the Democrats are making re-election for Trump a breeze.

They have proposed ‘The Green Deal,’ a wealth tax, a top marginal income rate of 70 percent, abolition of the Electoral College, abolition of ICE, reparations, the cancellation of student debt, free college tuition, Medicare for all, and banning private insurance.

It can safely be said that if the Democratic nominee embraces these positions or is forced by his/her party to move far-left, Donald Trump will waltz into his second term; guaranteed. Should the Democrats select a moderate like former Vice President Joe Biden, their chances will probably improve.

Furthermore, with no Russian collusion being unearthed in the Mueller investigation, just concluded, Trump’s credibility with accusations that it was a ‘witch hunt’ will most likely damage the Democrat’s credibility.

Add to that a failure to abolish the Electoral College out of pure political spite, the inability to gain popular fervor for government ‘freebies,’ and a rising socialist stance and you have Democrats looking more to 2024 and an electable, middle-of-the-road candidate to heal their inner-party conflict.

In the past few months, a relative stability has enveloped the White House.

Trump has noticeably toned down his harsh rhetoric and become more presidential in his image.

He is beginning to fit into the job as an insider while he gains valuable political skills understanding the Washington system he labeled a swamp.

Strangely, most of the committed Democratic candidates espouse a confidence of victory, portraying Trump as a wounded president.

That was the same line of thinking the Republicans had in 2012 when they thought Mitt Romney couldn’t lose to Barack Obama.
