As we leave 2017 behind, let us do so with thanksgiving for God’s grace for what has passed and what is coming in 2018. As I write this message, let me encourage you with the words of my late grandfather, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., "Thank God for what we have left."

The year 2018 will certainly have its share of pitfalls and pinnacles. How will you navigate the continuing steps of your life’s journey?

Here’s a special invitation for you to "join the movement" for life.

As you may or may not know, with President Donald John Trump keeping many of his anti-abortion campaign promises, there is great hope for saving the lives of our unborn babies and bringing love and healing to their mothers and families. That’s really something to look forward to in 2018.

On the Civil Rights for the Unborn (CRU) front, we are taking the airwaves for life; in 2017 alone there were interviews with national TV shows, with national and local radio stations, print media as well as internet papers; over 130 interviews. Look for more in 2018.

We’re continuing several projects; working to defund Planned Parenthood, and networking with several pro-life leaders and organization to pass pro-life bills in various states, and probably most importantly we’ve been involved with various prayer groups for the support of President Trump and his administration and for advancements in the pro-life movement.

CRU is also supporting two upcoming pro-life movie, "Order of Rights," and "Roe v. Wade." With their premieres, we pray that many will be encouraged to fight for the unborn with more vigor than ever before.

My new book, "King Truths," is scheduled to be released on Jan. 16, 2018 on Amazon.com. You can pre-order today

Then there’s the new music album "Tender Moments Alone With God" being released this month. You may have heard that "music is the food of life." With this album we hope your heart will be blessed for Life!

On a personal note, we lost close family members and friends in 2017; and we mourn their passing. Yet we are not without hope. If you have experienced similar losses, or any disappointments in 2017, our prayers for your healing and restoration go out to you.

Again, the new book "King Truths," and my new music project "Tender Moments Alone With God" are ready. As part of my ministry at Alveda King Ministries, they are being released during the New Year season with you in mind; we pray that you will be healed, refreshed and enlightened by these messages.

Finally, as we leave the joys and sorrows, the triumphs and challenges of 2017 behind to enter the promises and challenges of 2018, may God bless you and richly sustain you in the days to come!

We pray this song will bless you. "The Keys Song!"

Dr. Alveda C. King grew up in the civil rights movement led by her uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She is director of African-American outreach for Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. Her family home in Birmingham, Ala., was bombed, as was her father's church office in Louisville, Ky. Alveda herself was jailed during the open housing movement. Read more reports from Dr. Alveda C.
