A great focus of those intent on sowing discord in the West involves the most egregious of any assault: an attack on children, and to be specific, on boys.

What astounds is that the media, academia and certain politicos in the very countries under siege have sunk low enough to not only allow it, but in many cases to revel in it.

The danger can’t be overstated since there can be no more pernicious undermining of any society than a successful offensive on its progeny — upon its girls or boys — intimating the demise of that culture.

Yet over the last couple of decades avant-garde pseudo-psychology and far-leftist think tanks, in determining one of the nation’s supposed collective evils, have shockingly decided that the malefactors are indeed underage minors — boys.

There is indeed a "war on boys" taking place and history is going to denounce it — and us, for permitting it — as quite a shameful chapter in the nation’s chronicle.

As with all surreptitious subversions, the purveyors of the current gender hatred didn’t initiate their rancor by stepping forward and openly inviting the nation to reject and censure all things male, including adolescent lads; the sleight of hand was somewhat more disingenuous. Americans some decades ago were instead presented with the very even-handed proposal that whatever disparity existed between boys and girls, it would be in everyone’s interest to make certain girls weren’t left behind.

Those we allowed ostensibly to smooth over whatever gender gaps that existed however took their mandate not so much as one to uplift girls, but more as a license to diminish male children. The damage done to boys since society’s onslaught against them began is now strewn across a landscape of devastation in many venues.

Boys read and write less and worse than girls, they receive lower grades, are less likely to apply and be accepted to advanced educational programs. Girls now outperform boys in almost every positive scholastic indicator — from school honors and government to participating in studying abroad — while it is boys over-represented in school drop-out rates, suspensions, crime and drugs.

Yet the profusion of government programs, public service announcements on television and rigidly focused attention by educators are all still focused on helping girls—who seem, actually, to be hardly the needy, feeble and vulnerable segment of our society made out by their self-appointed saviors.

That young males have been purposefully discounted, snubbed, ignored or actively held back is hardly praiseworthy. The national disgrace, however, is reserved for the historic ignominy of allowing millions of boys to be subjected to the knee-jerk drugging protocol prescribed by dangerously misguided psychologists who perceive normal boyhood as more of a disease, and who are attempting to stamp out any typical boisterousness, pep, masculine curiosity, and rough and tumble with a panoply of strong chemicals meant to change personality.

An astounding one fifth of all American boys will be diagnosed with attention deficit hyper-activity disorder (ADHD) as they make their way from kindergarten to high school, now a minefield under the over-arching eyes of educational and medical functionaries at the ready to write another prescription and chemically castrate yet another boy.

Those who coined the term "toxic masculinity" peddling it nonstop to the American people aren't referring to convicts, outlaws, gangsters, street thugs, rapists, murderers and the like.

Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles should finally come to grips with the fact that they were and are alluding to your sons, grandsons and nephews — your most valuable and vulnerable biological treasures. It should never have been allowed to occur, it is nothing less than an infamous and nation-breaking crime, and the American people should insist this malfeasance be brought to an immediate end.

However, the craven refusal to defend boys is often accompanied by the same cowardice in failing to protect girls too. Three years ago the courageous Monterrey Herald published my op-ed (Aug. 1, 2015) concerning the hardly believable outrage of an eight year old girl being raped, murdered and dumped in the trash in Santa Cruz, California.

I remember quite well the caustic and irritable replies received from executive editors of the great newspapers of record in the U.S. in denying it their column space, "We have our own innocents raped and murdered here as well." In fact, there were political pressures in that particular case to impel the media to attempt to make the story disappear as quickly as possible.

So perhaps, unfortunately, that may encapsulate the greater problem — a society lurching so precipitously toward degeneracy that it is lackadaisical about its fundamental duty to guard and preserve its own children, male or female.

And that doesn’t bode well at all; even reptiles are known to defend their offspring.
