The socials are all a-Twitter today over Google’s sacking of James Damore over his leaked “manifesto” criticizing the company for its blatant leftist bias. In the past few hours every time I glance up at my Twitter feed there are several hundred new tweets flooding in that blast the company for confirming what we all knew: Google is the most radically leftist company in the world today.

Titled “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” Damore’s document takes the Mountain View behemoth to task for an intrinsic leftist political bias that equates freedom from offense with psychological safety. He laments the shaming and silencing of dissenting opinions at Google as leading to “an ideological echo chamber where some ideas are too sacred to be honestly discussed.”

What’s surprising about Damore’s manifesto (and yes as a woman I was steeled myself to be outraged given the media indignation) is just how profoundly non-threatening it is. Damore admits that bias and sexism exist, writes that he has no patience for stereotypes, and strongly believes in diversity and inclusion.

Do I agree with everything he wrote? Certainly not. His argument that different personality traits between the sexes may in part explain why there aren’t more women in tech is interesting and may have some kernels of truth to it, but it’s clumsy and not very well-thought out.

Without wading further into the gender-equality swamp however, what really struck me was the unhinged reaction of his (now former) colleagues. Just Damore’s mild dissent from Google’s leftist orthodoxy caused a Pavlovian response as Googlers took to their fainting couches. One wrote that the manifesto was “putting Googler’s physical safety at risk.” Other female Googlers (Googlettes?) claimed they were so upset by the contents that they simply couldn’t come to work, thus kind of validating Damore’s clumsy point no?

In an interesting twist, the internal nonsense at Google confirms months of suspicion among those of us on the right that the company is blocking, censoring, and blacklisting conservatives online.

Let me explain: Breitbart’s Allum Bokhari published a fascinating interview today with “Hal” an anonymous Googler who confirms that the company’s employees routinely create internal “wrongthink” blacklists to destroy the careers of their colleagues who don’t toe the line with Google’s accepted SJW (social justice warrior) groupthink:

"Several managers have openly admitted to keeping blacklists of the employees in question, and preventing them from seeking work at other companies. There have been numerous cases in which social justice activists coordinated attempts to sabotage other employees’ performance reviews for expressing a different opinion. These have been raised to the Senior VP level, with no action taken whatsoever."

These are the very same engineers who tweak Google’s algorithms on a daily basis. Now ask yourself: Is it reasonable to believe that Google employees who keep internal blacklists of wrongthinkers, sabotage their performance reviews, and even prevent them from finding work at other companies aren’t sneaking their leftist political biases into Google’s completely non-transparent search algorithms? Can we take Google at face value when it claims that blocking outspoken SJW critic Jordan Peterson’s YouTube account was simply a “mistake”? Or that the hundreds of similar examples at other lefty Silicon Valley companies aren’t deliberate attempts to sabotage conservative voices online?

As Free Our Internet has warned repeatedly, the day of reckoning for Silicon Valley is coming, and the Damore firing may be the inflection point. New right personality Mike Cernovich announced just this morning plans for a “freedom rally” outside of Google’s headquarters to protest its blatant censorship of conservatives on YouTube.

Ironically, at the same time Google pinky swears that despite all of the mounting evidence, it would never, ever censor conservatives online, it’s cynically using the same “censorship” argument to fight new sex trafficking legislation to prosecute websites like Backpage that knowingly facilitate the buying and selling of young girls for sex.

A group called Consumer Watchdog has all of the gory details here about how the company funded dozens of activist groups, professors, and legal scholars to support Backpage’s legal defense to fight lawsuits filed by underage girls who had been bought and sold like cattle through Backpage’s adult personals section, some hundreds of times.

Anti-sex trafficking groups are enraged, with groups like the National Center on Sexual Exploitation blasting the company as “caring more about its bottom line than the victims of serial rape for profit.”

Against this backdrop, an interesting Business Insider story last week kind of puts an exclamation point on the growing outrage over Google’s complete disconnect from the rest of America. The story reported on a new restaurant that Google’s elites are flocking to in Silicon Valley where they casually dine on… gold-flecked steak.
