1. PETA Props Pamela Anderson on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Pamela Anderson landed in the bottom two during the first week of “Dancing With the Stars.”

The actress, though, had a secret weapon that would help keep her floating across the show's dance floor.

Although Shannen Doherty and Buzz Aldrin have already had to turn in their dancing shoes, Anderson has gotten an assist from the activist group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

PETA tapped its supporters to be a significant voting block for Anderson, who has a long history with the organization of having posed in various stages of nakedness for PETA themed posters.

Utilizing its blogs and social media sites to promote the anti-bullfighting themed dance in which Anderson performed, PETA also urged members and supporters to keep boosting the former “Baywatch” star.

An example of the show's campaign was posted on a site called “The PETA Files.”

Logan Scherer posted, “I think it goes without saying that a vote for Pamela Anderson on Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) is a vote for beauty, talent, and animals — which is why I'll be casting all twelve of my votes for her.”

The way to vote is set forth on the site with phone numbers for calling and text numbers for texting, and it discloses that, in addition to one phone and one text vote, an individual can vote online 10 times.

Twelve votes per PETA member or supporter could keep Anderson “safe.”

The PETA blogger described Anderson's run on the show as “riveting.” Then the poster pointed out that she would use her performance as an opportunity to speak out against bullfighting.

Prior to Pam's "paso doble" performance, a classic Spanish dance that is a choreographic metaphor of a matador and bull, PETA sent the show a preview of an anti-bullfighting video starring singer and comedienne Charo. Coincidentally, Charo helped Anderson learn the Latin choreography.

Maybe this week, to balance out the PETA Pam push, Kate Gosselin will get a helping hand from Oscar Mayer.

2. Tina Fey in the Pocket for Obama

Is Tina Fey secretly on the White House payroll? It seems that way as she apparently continues to do the president’s comedic bidding.

Just after Sarah Palin verbally slapped the president silly, Fey popped up on "SNL" with her tired Palin imitation.

The former Alaska governor struck first while talking on the air to Sean Hannity, describing President Obama's nuclear policy as being “like a child in a playground who says, ‘Punch me in the face, I'm not going to retaliate.’”

The next day the president snipped back, “I really have no response to that. The last I checked, Sarah Palin is not much of an expert on nuclear issues.”

Then later in the week Palin pummeled the prez again, referring to the “vast nuclear expertise he acquired as a community organizer, a part-time senator and a candidate for president.”

With Sarah having the clear advantage in the nuclear barb exchange, Fey took to the “Saturday Night Live” stage dressed in black leather and for the umpteenth time mimicked the former GOP vice presidential candidate.

Fey as Palin hit the tea party participants, describing them as “protesters dressed like Paul Revere who are so overweight they picket from folding chairs.”

Her hack character then introduced the “Sarah Palin Network,” that was going to feature films like “My Daughter Only Sprained Her Ankle, You Can't Seriously Be Considering Euthanizing Her.”

“But not all our programming is fear-based,” Fey twanged, and proceeded to promo a slew of faux shows such as “Tea Party Wheel of Fortune,” “Are You Smarter than a Half-Term Governor?” and “Hey Journalist, I Gotcha.”

Meanwhile Fey had her own big-screen release over the weekend. She and co-star Steve Carell came in second in the weekend box-office after a recount spot as “Date Night” was edged out by last weekend's No. 1 film, “Clash of the Titans.”

Fey's flick took in $25.2 million, almost $2 million less than the estimate distributor 20th Century Fox had reported a day earlier.

“Titans” brought in $26.6 million, keeping the No. 1 spot for a second week.

A reshuffling of the box-office levels only occurs when the Sunday estimates vary significantly from the final numbers, kind of like politicians' projections of the federal deficit.

3. Blondes Make More Dough

For the longest stretch, blondes have been stereotyped in films, TV shows, and comics’ joke files as being low functioning in the gray matter department.

But now a new university study shows that blond women have an advantage when it comes to fattening their wallets. Even when isolating variables such as education and height, the results of a Queensland University study showed that fair-haired women earned 7 percent more and married wealthier men than their darker haired counterparts.

The research found that no other hair color had this effect.

The study surveyed 13,000 women.

It was published in a journal called Economics Letters and also found that women with flaxen hair tended to marry men who earned an average of 6 percent more than other women's husbands.

“Blond women are often depicted as being more attractive than other women, but also less intelligent,” Dr. David Johnston, who led the study, said. “But it seems the association between blondes and beauty dominates any perception that they have low intelligence.”

4. Tiger Woods Roars Back

Tiger Woods has arguably been the subject of the most intense media coverage of any sports celebrity.

After admitting infidelity and publicly apologizing, Tiger has launched an astonishing public opinion turnaround, which basically rivals that of Kobe Bryant.

Woods had the chance to display the extraordinary gift with which he was blessed, his virtuosity at the game of golf, at the Masters this past week.

Viewer curiosity was certainly a major part of the Augusta attraction. The audience watching Woods navigate the course for the first time since the scandal broke was the largest in the history of the tournament.

According to Nielsen, almost 5 million people watched the opening round on ESPN. That's a whopping 47 percent increase over last year.

Meanwhile CBS Sports experienced a record audience for its live stream of the tournament. Over 56,000 unique visitors surfed to the CBS Internet streams the first day, an increase of 133 percent over the previous year.

The social media indicate an improvement in public perceptions of Woods, according to Zeta Interactive, a company that monitors message boards, blogs and social media posts.

The data indicated that the first day of the Masters golf tournament significantly helped Tiger’s online reputation. The day before the Masters, his online reputation was 51 percent positive and 49 percent negative. However, the day after the Masters appearance, the positive figure shot up to 69 percent and the negative number fell to 31 percent.

Hopefully Tiger’s trust and integrity numbers within his own family will fare as well.

5. Jim Carrey Weighs In on Tiger Woods

Jim Carrey just split up with Jenny McCarthy after coupling together for five years.

Maybe the actor is practicing for a new movie role, but Carrey has taken to Twitter to give advice to none other than Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin.

The “Liar, Liar” star tweeted, “No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity. Elin had 2 b a willing participant on the ride [for] whatever reason.”

He added fuel to the fire by writing, “No woman just stays at home with the kids anymore.”

Carrey wrote that “Tiger was wrong and Elin was ignoring the obvious.”

After Carrey's comments made his followers get unhinged, he tweeted, “I want 2 make it CLEAR that I do not condone infidelity at all, but 2 some degree the responsibility 4 it is shared by both people.”

The comic actor started a virtual social media firestorm. He tried to soften his statements with another tweet.

“My people called and said I might have to tame my tweets a little. So here goes . . . I'm going to make a sandwich now. Peanut butter. (sigh),” Carrey posted.
