Global Warming Imposters Finally Unmasked

By    |   Tuesday, 01 December 2009 03:11 PM

The so-called "Climategate" scandal knocked the wheels off of the global warming bandwagon, and the perpetrators must be held accountable.

"The bandwagon has hit an iceberg of failure and revelations of falsification and cover-up," says British meteorologist Piers Corbyn. "Its credibility now lies blown to smithereens but the perpetrators of this the greatest scandal of our times will not go quietly. All who care for evidence-based science and policies and accountability of the political process must stand up now."

Corbyn is evaluating the fact that Britain's vaunted Climate Research Unit rigged much, if not all, of the so-called scientific evidence to show that global warming has continued. Their own hacked e-mails reveal how they scurried to conceal the evidence of global cooling their research was showing.

And it took only a few people to perpetuate the charade. "What we are looking at here is the small group of scientists who have for years been more influential in driving the worldwide alarm over global warming than any others, not least through the role they play at the heart of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change," writes Christopher Booker of Britain's Telegraph newspaper.

The definition of insanity is making the same mistake over and over again — and expecting the results to change. Under that definition, the global warming enthusiasts are just plain nuts.

Consider: It is a doctrine of faith in the church of global warming that all the scientific evidence shows conclusively that the planet's climate has been heating up and will continue to do so — despite the fact that the warming stopped cold (no pun intended) at the end of the 20th century and has entered a pronounced cooling phase that none of the warmists' vaunted computer models had predicted or can explain.

The newly revealed e-mails show, among many other things, private admissions of doubt or scientific weakness in the global warming theory, writes Australian journalist Andrew Bolt. In acknowledging that global temperatures actually have declined for the past decade, one scientist asks, "where the heck is global warming? . . . The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't."

Writes Bolt, "They still can't account for it."

This latest credibility blow has not put so much as a crimp in the warming establishment's faith or its plans to move forward in clamping serious restrictions on the economies of the Western world and the liberty of its citizens.

Despite the e-mail scandal, the Obama administration is convinced that climate science is sound, says White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

Administration officials believe that "climate change is happening. I don't think that's anything that is, quite frankly, among most people, in dispute anymore," Gibbs said.

Ignoring the expose of the dishonesty of their "science,'' the warmists are getting ready to join President Obama on a pilgrimage to Copenhagen, Denmark, for a global summit Saturday to sound the alarm that the earth will burn unless the nations of the developed world surrender their sovereignty and their wealth to the United Nations and its International Panel on Climate Change or some yet-to-be-established international body.

We can expect this gathering to warn that the infamous specter of "climate change" will devastate Mother Earth unless we heed their demands.

The revelations of the Climate Research Unit's chicanery should come as no surprise to the thousands of legitimate climatologists and other scientists and statesmen who long have questioned the legitimacy of the global warming scam.

Most have recognized the dishonesty of the warmists, who have been feeding at a multibillion-dollar trough of public and private money. This gigantic hoax has made such prelates of the church of global warming, such as Al Gore, multimillionaires.

Among the critics of the scam is Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, the ranking member of the Environment and Public Works Committee. On Friday, he called for a hearing into the International Panel on Climate Change's research to determine whether it "cooked the science to make this thing look as if the science was settled, when all the time, of course, we knew it was not."

The situation is serious, considering "the literally millions of dollars that have been thrown away on some of this stuff that they came out with," said Inhofe, adding that it is "interesting" that the e-mails surfaced before the Copenhagen summit.

Note to President Obama: Be sure to take your heaviest overcoat, gloves, and earmuffs to Copenhagen.

The climate summit will "be hit by blustery deluges, probably turning to snow or blizzards and icy blasts in the region at times — especially heavy when President Obama visits," Corbyn predicts.

By the way, for about $1,200, you can actually shake hands with Al Gore at the conference.
