The Newsmax Rising Bestsellers list will do more than stimulate your mind. These reads may challenge your beliefs, broaden your perspectives, excite your curiosities, or widen your imagination.

These books may not necessarily appear on the official New York Times list of bestsellers, but they're the ones our Newsmax audience is reading, talking about, sharing with friends, and buying.

Here are the Newsmax Rising Bestsellers for the week of May 3, 2021:

1. "The Tyranny of Big Tech" by Josh Hawley (Regnery)

The U.S. senator from Missouri argues that Americans’ First Amendment rights are in jeopardy as a result of the huge amount of personal data, tech giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple collect. These mega-corporations, Hawley says, are controlled by modern day robber barons who pose a grave threat to American liberty. He discusses ways to correct progressives’ mistakes and curb the influence of corporate and political elites. This is the book that made headlines when it was dropped by Simon & Schuster following the U.S. Capitol siege. (Nonfiction)

2. "Fighting for Life: Becoming a Force for Change in a Wounded World" by Lila Rose (Thomas Nelson)

Rose, founder of the pro-life movement Live Action and named one of National Journal's "25 most Influential Washington Women Under 35,’" presents a guidebook on how to become “a force for good in a broken world.” She describes raw, intimate stories from her personal life and public activism to show how one can overcome insecurities and find inner courage to become a leader and make a long-lasting impact. (Nonfiction)

3. "The Christian Left: How Liberal Thought Has Hijacked the Church" by Lucas Miles (BroadStreet Publishing Group)

The pastor and religious media personality discusses his belief that liberal thought has entered America’s religious sanctuaries. He tells readers how to "identify and refute the lies of the Christian Left; uncover the meaning of love as Jesus defined it; navigate controversial subjects such as abortion, gender identity, and the doctrine of hell; and gain confidence in upholding biblical values."

With a firm understanding of the issues facing the church today, he says, one can become "empowered to elevate God’s truth, justice, and wisdom." (Nonfiction)

4. "Lincoln in Private: What His Most Personal Reflections Tell Us About Our Greatest President" by Ronald C. White (Random House)

The private notes Abraham Lincoln sent to himself — what he called some of his "best thoughts" — are collected together for the first time. Lincoln scholar White walks readers through the 16th president’s ideas on how to fight slavery; his concerns about the new Republican Party’s long-term prospects; and his argument for national unity amidst a secession crisis that would ultimately tear the nation in two. (Nonfiction)

5."The Chief Witness: Escape from China's Modern-day Concentration Camps" by Sayragul Sauytbay and Alexandra Cavelius (Scribe US) Born in China’s north-western province, Sauytbay trained as a doctor, but her life was upended when the Chinese authorities incarcerated her in a modern-day gulag, where prisoners are beaten raped and used as human guinea pigs for medical experiments. Her crime: being Kazakh, one of China’s ethnic minorities. She makes a daring escape to Europe and is reunited with her family — although she lives under constant the threat of reprisal.

In this memoir, Sauytbay tells of her ordeal and reveals secret information she uncovered showing that Beijing has long-term plans to undermine not only its minorities, but democracies around the world. (Nonfiction)
