Once and for all, Democratic leaders in Congress should have the courage to denounce freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar for her outrageous and ignorant comments about 9/11.

The Minnesota Democrat told a fundraiser in California for the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) that:

"CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties," and then she went on to urge Muslim Americans to "raise hell" and "make people uncomfortable."

As the police commissioner of the City of New York on September 11, 2001, I oversaw the NYPD’s response, rescue, recovery, and investigative efforts of that “something” that “some people did.”

The something she spoke of was the most substantial terror attack in world history, and the people involved were Muslim radical fundamentalists who carried out the orders of Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the attack.

We lost close to 3,000 Americans in this attack, and the death, devastation, and destruction will haunt many that were there for a life time. To Omar, it was just a thing.

CAIR, which promotes itself as a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, is, according to many in the intelligence community, and governments in the Middle-East like the United Arab Emirates, as well as reports from National Review and The Jerusalem Post, allegedly affiliated with terror organizations.

Omar has already been blasted by many of her own Democratic colleagues for spewing constant anti-Semitic and anti-Israel sentiments. Now she is speaking at a questionable fundraiser and acts as if 9/11 was nothing to speak of.

It’s time for Congress, our law enforcement and intelligence communities, and the American people to take a close look at Ilhan Omar.

The faster she is voted out of office, the better we all will be.

As New York City’s 40th Police Commissioner, Bernard Kerik was in command of the NYPD on September 11, 2001, and responsible for the city’s response, rescue, recovery, and the investigative efforts of the most substantial terror attack in world history.
