Progressives have spent years accusing the GOP of "denying" science, yet they're the ones who are completely disregarding science with their hysterical predictions of a looming climate apocalypse.
The American people have heard variations on the same narrative over and over again for the past 20 years — according to the Democrat doomsayers, global warming is here and the world is coming to an end.
In the late-2000s, Al Gore warned us that the Earth’s ice caps would melt in less than a decade, triggering cataclysmic events that would threaten human existence by 2014.
During his time in the White House, President Obama expanded on these predictions, arguing that climate change is directly contributing to droughts and wildfires.
Today, the Democrats running for president in 2020 are offering even more dire predictions than their predecessors, arguing that only a complete government takeover of nearly every aspect of society can save the planet from disaster.
But perhaps the most outrageous remark of all has come from the mouth of Representative Jerry Nadler, who recently spoke at a climate change rally in Washington. “If the oceans acidify, which they’re beginning to do,” Nadler asserted, “they will destroy the entire food chain and essentially all that will be left will be bacteria and maybe some plants.”
Even Al Gore didn’t go this far with his bogus climate change claims — there is absolutely no reason to believe that humans are capable of wiping out all complex life on Earth by acidifying the oceans. In fact, we know that it wouldn’t even be sufficient to wipe out all complex life in the oceans, since scientists have already observed that some species have begun adapting to changing conditions.
Sadly, this basic fact won’t stop the fear-mongering Democrats from trying to frighten people into supporting their radical policies. In recent months, Democrat presidential candidates have called for complete bans on fossil fuels and nuclear power, promising to dismantle the entire U.S. energy infrastructure in order to avert the catastrophic outcomes they keep predicting.
These policy proposals, however, are just as scientifically illiterate as they sound — even climate experts who disagree with President Trump politically are now raising concerns about the Democrat Party’s stance on green energy.
For instance, Jason Grumet, founder and president of the Bipartisan Policy Center and the former director of the National Commission on Energy Policy, recently accused the Democrats of disregarding the basic math of climate change.
