Mudslinging Now Par for Obama's Course

In politics, there are many tactics for politicians to deal with their weaknesses. Some tackle them head on, some ignore them altogether. Then there are some who shift them onto their opponents.

In psychology, the tactic is known as projection. As explained by Sigmund Freud, projection is a defense mechanism whereby a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people.

In Obama’s case, there’s a pretty perfect place to park his own shortcomings or vulnerabilities: in the driveway of GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
