A vote for Mitt Romney represents a choice for the American dream, while a vote for President Barack Obama represents a choice for redistribution, says Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.
A just-found recording of Obama comments from 1998 shows his true aim, Priebus writes on
Politico. “I actually believe in redistribution,” Obama said. So it’s no wonder that he has presided over the worst economy since the Great Depression, Priebus maintains. “His agenda is one of dependency, not opportunity and job creation.”
Obama has done nothing on the jobs issue, Priebus says. “His only plans for a second term are more taxing and more spending. No surprise, these are the key ingredients in the recipe for redistribution.”
Romney, on the other hand, “believes in the American free enterprise system,” Priebus writes. The former Massachusetts governor and his running mate Paul Ryan have a plan that qualifies as a cure to many of our economic woes — The Romney-Ryan Plan for a Stronger Middle Class, Priebus says.
The plan includes energy independence, improved education, effective trade policy, deficit reduction, and promotion of small business.
“This plan is expected to create 12 million new jobs over the next four years, putting Americans back to work and strengthening our country,” Priebus writes. “In addition, Romney will cut taxes for middle class families. Don’t expect to get the same from Obama.”
The president’s redistribution policies constitute an abandonment of the American dream, the NRC chairman says. “But Romney knows this is still the land of the American dream, and he will work from Day One to revive that dream for all Americans.”
