Sarah Palin, her daughter Bristol, and the social media universe wants the world to know: It's just a cup.
Starbucks' decision to roll out a simplified red-white-and-green holiday cup this Christmas season stirred up a firestorm of criticism, including from Josh Feuerstein, whose
Facebook rant and video contended the coffee company "hates Jesus."
The video went viral, collecting more than 15.6 million views by Wednesday, more than a half-million shares and more than 183,000 "likes."
Top-polling GOP candidate Donald Trump
even hinted he might
end the Starbucks' lease at his Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.
A cause was born.
But so was a backlash, with a groundswell of get-over-it generated by
#ItsJustACup.
Even Sarah Palin weighed in on her
Facebook page.
"Funny, though, how some grinches on the Left take things too far in attempts to make all us jolly revelers look ridiculous, lumping us in the same box concerning misplaced outrage over a coffee cup's non-controversy," she writes.
Adds Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin, a former barista,
on her blog:
"Do not buy in to the media hype surrounding this story. It is just another attempt by the LEFT to make Christians look stupid."
