A new report claims Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who suspended his presidential campaign in March, might be heading for the NFL.
Rubio has already said he will not seek reelection to the Senate when his current term ends after the upcoming November election. And while he might be holding onto a
thread of hope that he is chosen to either be the Republican Party's presidential nominee or perhaps hook up with another candidate as a running mate, he is looking for a new job.
According to the
New York Post's Page Six, Rubio may end up working for the Miami Dolphins.
Sources told the paper Rubio might work in the team's executive offices, although a team insider said "there's nothing to" the report.
Regardless, Rubio's love for the Dolphins has been chronicled in the past. After he joined the presidential race last spring,
The Washington Post ran a story with the headline, "Marco Rubio likely is the biggest Miami Dolphins fan ever to run for president."
In 2014, Rubio had this to say in a
Daily Caller piece that ran on Father's Day:
"I'll never forget when I was a boy and the doctor told me I had to wear leg braces to correct knee problems. I often refused to put them on. But every day when I refused, the phone would ring and — to my great surprise — on the other end would be Don Shula, head coach of the Miami Dolphins. 'If you want to play for me one day,' he'd say, 'you'd better put on those braces.'
"It didn't occur to me until years later that, unlike Coach Shula, the man on the phone had a Cuban accent and sounded suspiciously like my dad."
