A record number of voters now disapprove of President Donald Trump tweeting from his personal Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

According to the poll, 70 percent say Trump should stop tweeting, while 27 percent say he should continue. A majority of every subcategory said it would be better from the president to refrain from using his personal Twitter account.

Trump has been criticized for engaging in personal feuds on the social media platform and for antagonizing world leaders, such as North Korea's Kim Jong Un, who has threatened to hit the United States with nuclear missiles in response.

But while 58 percent say Trump's comments saying NFL players should not kneel during the national anthem were not appropriate, most respondents (52 percent) also disagreed with players taking a knee.

Trump's overall approval ratings are up two points in the poll. A total of 38 percent think he is doing a good job now, compared to 36 percent in late September.

"After a turbulent stretch of heartbreaking tragedies, President Donald Trump is still deep in negative territory," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in press release accompanying the poll.
