Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly's memoir is due out in days, but a sneak peek reveals how she got violently ill before moderating what turned out to be an infamous Republican presidential debate, the New York Times reported.

Kelly wrote in her book, "Settle For More," that she awoke the morning of the debate feeling just fine. She recalls that a suspiciously enthusiastic driver picked her up to take her to the site of the debate and insisted on getting her coffee, according to the Times, which got an early copy of the memoir. Kelly repeatedly declined to take him up on the offer.

But he got her the coffee nonetheless — and she ended up drinking it.

Within 15 minutes, she was vomiting so uncontrollably that it was uncertain if she would be able to go on the air, the Times reported. She kept a trash pail under her desk during the debate in case of emergency.

Kelly, who never directly accuses anyone of trying to poison her, notes a stomach bug was going around that day.

"But the episode spooked her enough that she shared it later with (then network chairman) Roger Ailes and a lawyer friend of his," The Times said. "Foul play? Again: She reports. You decide."
