A hotel in Washington, D.C. will open in late spring 2018 as a haven for Democrats, according to a report Monday in Bloomberg.

Eaton Workshop is designing the hotel around liberal activism and community involvement, according to the report. The hotel will include fireside chats, rooftop lectures and podcasts. An art program will include commissions from local artists and an exhibition window facing the street.

On Facebook, the company touts itself as a "progressive place for thought leaders" and has plans to also open in Hong Kong and San Francisco.

A working space at the hotel will give priority to progressive startups, activists, and artists, and a wellness program will provide "inner-health-focused treatments" instead of facials and massages, according to Bloomberg.

Staff at the hotel  also will be notable for their activism, such as the hotel's beverage director who "cares deeply about social justice," and house chef Tim Ma who was an engineer at the National Security Agency, said Katherine Lo, hotel founder, in the Bloomberg report.

The hotel will include items to enable activism, Lo said.

"We plan to have new ideas in the minibar — an activist toolkit, for example, that includes sheets with information to help you call your Congress people. And if we'd been open during this year's Women's March, I could have seen us putting poster boards and markers in the rooms," Lo said in the Bloomberg report.

"We wanted to emphasize that it's a place for people who are thinking outside the box and want to effect a change in the world," Lo said.

"We're hoping that our hotel revenues will propel our creative projects," Lo added.

Instead of putting the hotel in cities such as New York or Miami, Lo wants the hotel in places that have "a sincere desire to make the world a better place," she said in a Monday report in Eater Washington D.C.
