Attorney General Jeff Sessions is slated to visit the United States' southern border with Mexico next week.

According to the Washington Examiner, the former Alabama senator will travel to Arizona Tuesday and visit the Port of Nogales and the Mariposa Port of Entry. He is also scheduled to deliver a speech at an International Association of Chiefs of Police event in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

The visit will wrap up later in the day when Sessions speaks to military personnel at Luke Air Force Base, the Examiner reports.

The trip will be Sessions' first visit to the border as attorney general.

Sessions was outspoken against illegal immigration as a senator. He is reportedly trying to expand the Department of Justice's role in enforcing the nation's immigration laws.
