The FBI is looking for a 33-year-old Boston man who officials think may be heading the violent social media campaign of the Islamic State (ISIS.)

Ahmad Abousamra is on the FBI's most-wanted terrorist list and has been on the run since he was indicted five years ago for conspiring to kill Americans in Iraq and providing material support to terrorists.

His co-defendant in the case, Tarek Mehanna, is currently serving a 17-year sentence in a U.S. prison.

Abousamra graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in computer technology and is fluent in English and Arabic, CNN reported on Thursday. The FBI's wanted poster says he has U.S. and Syrian citizenship.

Abousamra was last seen in Syria with a woman and child thought to be his wife and daughter. CNN said authorities won't confirm any role he played with ISIS, but a law enforcement official said they are looking into whether he was involved in the murder group Media Wing.

ISIS' English social media wing includes Facebook, an online magazine and Twitter, which it uses to spread its violent message. Twitter recently suspended the group's account.

Abousamra and Mehanna were indicted in 2009, accused of attending a terrorist training camp in Yemen with the purpose of traveling to Iraq to kill U.S. troops.

"We have concerns that Ahmad Abousamra is still pursuing his desire to fight United States soldiers," an FBI agent told TV station WHDH in Boston.

The FBI released photographs and an audio recording of Abousamra in hopes someone could identify him. There is a $50,000 reward for his capture.
